Bahraini Al-Wefaq: Collective political death sentences issued by secret military courts against innocent civilians on charges that did not occur and had no effect; we call on the world for action
The Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society said that the military court in Bahrain issued final death sentences against six citizens in a secret trial of peaceful civilians on charges that did not occur and have no effect, today, on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Tight military measures were taken in the court.
Al-Wefaq confirmed that the secret military court issued its death sentences in a case that included alleged intentions to target the Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defense Force (BDF), whom the court is subject to his authority. The convicts categorically denied their relationship to or knowledge of the case, and they confirmed that they were subjected to the worst forms of brutal torture and enforced disappearance for long periods in prisons that they did not even know their names or place in order to pass this case. Al-Wefaq said that it believes that this trial is purely political and serves the race to impose influence between the parties of the authorities and to create fabricated stories that contribute to the political exploitation before the international, regional and local community.
Al-Wefaq confirmed that the King is personally and directly concerned with these verdicts and all their details, which proved to be a political trial of peaceful and innocent civilians, who have nothing to do with it.
Al-Wefaq stressed that this unjust, unfair and inhuman verdict opens the door to all the details of the relationship between the government and the people. Is this verdict the beginning of mass executions that are not based on any grounds? They are just a way to kill innocents who are arrested and hidden secretly. All their case papers are hidden and they are tried in secrecy, without a document or a paper about their trial and without any cases or facts behind those verdicts.
Al-Wefaq wondered whether such trials are the result of a political failure or a punishment for the Shiite community, since the court tried to link the case to the trial of obligations, rituals and worship related to the Shiite presence in Bahrain.
Al-Wefaq called on the international community, especially the US administration, whose most important military base in the region is located in Bahrain, as well as the British authorities, which opened its military base a short time ago in Bahrain, and the rest of the European Union countries, in addition to the UN community, especially the United nations, to urgently stop unfair political executions in Bahrain and stop the degradation of Shiites, who are being subjected to the worst attack in this country.
